Anshul Panday - Run Little Monkey Brand Ambassador 2019

Meet the brand ambassadors: |Anshul Panday|

Where do you live?

Toronto.

What are your running goals for 2019?

I’ve always felt it is important to cast a wide net in order to catch a lot of fish. In terms of running goals, by the end of 2019 I would like to run a half marathon in under two hours and run a marathon in under four and a half hours.

I have also tended to fall and hurt myself during my runs, so my secondary goal for 2019 is to be more careful so I can toss my metaphorical helmet and training wheels into the garbage right next to the bones of all the fish goals I’ve accomplished in my wide net of goals for 2019.

Where is your favourite place to run?

I like to run everywhere. I enjoy running on my treadmill at home, running around Toronto, and running in other countries.

Last year, I ran more than 1,500 km, including running the Chicago Marathon, the Scotiabank Toronto Half Marathon, and the Army Run in Ottawa.

What are your favourite races?

My favourite races are the Chicago Marathon and the Ottawa Army Run. Both events are really well organized, and the excitement created by all the runners and volunteers never ceases to amaze me.

Who inspires you?

My brother had his first child six years ago and becoming an aunt has completely changed my perspective on life. So, my main inspiration is my six-year-old niece. I want to be best version of myself so I can be a good role model for her, be somebody she looks up to, and be there for her when she needs anything.

What do you love best about running?

My favourite part of running is the feeling after a run when I know I have completed a challenge I set out for myself, while working out and having fun at the same time. Setting new personal bests, meeting other runners, and travelling to run new races are also exciting.

What do you find the most challenging?

The most challenging part about running is the final three kilometers of a marathon (1.875 miles for my American fans).

What are a couple of your favourite tunes to run to?

Level Up by Ciara and Run Up by Major Lazer.

Basically, any song with the word “up” in the name and any song with a good beat.

What do you do when you aren’t running?

I spend a lot of my time travelling, hanging out with my family, eating pizza and nachos, and volunteering.

Favourite quote(s)?

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” — Gandhi

“Running is the greatest metaphor for life because you get out of it what you put into it.” — Oprah Winfrey

“Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.” —  Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Supreme Court of the United States
