What to wear for running in winter

By Joyce Law If you’ve set your sights on tackling some big races in the spring, you might be wondering how you can possibly run and train in this winter weather. Last year, I ran through my first winter and turns out it’s not as bad as I thought it would be. In fact, I loved winter running so much that I now prefer winter running over  summer running! Other than being slightly cold for the first couple of minutes of the run, the rest of the run is comfortable as long as you are wearing the right clothing. Coach or no coach?

I decided I would train for my first marathon by following a plan I found online. It had me running five days a week at varying distances. I followed the plan and I was ready, or at least I thought I was. I showed up on Jan. 29, 2017 to the Miami Marathon. I ran it in 5:30. But I felt terrible afterwards. I ended up tearing a tendon in my foot that resulted in it taking more than a year for me to get back to running regularly. Before life as Head of Monkey Business at Run Little Monkey, our company's founder Gail Cohen spent most of her life as a journalist covering the legal profession and the justice system in Canada. As such, she had a front-row seat to some of the extreme difficulty average, and particularly low-income, Canadians have not only knowing the law and their rights but having access to justice of any kind.
