I decided I would train for my first marathon by following a plan I found online. It had me running five days a week at varying distances. I followed the plan and I was ready, or at least I thought I was. I showed up on Jan. 29, 2017 to the Miami Marathon. I ran it in 5:30. But I felt terrible afterwards. I ended up tearing a tendon in my foot that resulted in it taking more than a year for me to get back to running regularly. In 2018, I had the pleasure of getting accepted into the Chicago Marathon and felt I had to take my training a little more seriously. I got a runner’s manual from...
Where do you live? Ottawa, Ont. What are your running goals for 2019? This year, I plan to immerse myself in my journey and reach goals I never thought possible, including running my first half-marathon. For me, running has never been “easy” and I really have to work hard and be consistent with my training to see progress and reach the goals I am determined to achieve. I started running with the goal of weight loss in mind but it quickly opened my eyes to the fact that anyone can run, no matter how much you weigh or how slow you go. Weight has always been an issue for me, I have lost 90 lbs only to put it back...

I like to explore the city so I love any kind of destination run. I run with the North York RunNinjas and we do destination runs about once a month. In December, we ran to “Kringlewood” (a Toronto residential street lined with giant inflatable Santas) . . . in our ugly sweaters. After that, we ran to Nathan Phillips Square and took pictures at the Lego mural. It was so much fun! We have done food-themed...
Toronto experienced its first weekend all summer without any rain so it was totally perfect for the annual Beaches Jazz Run. We arrived to set up just as the sun was rising over the Leuty Lifeguard Station (so of course, there's the obligatory soft light photo!) We set up our booth under a large tree right by the boardwalk: there's probably no prettier place to introduce runners to your products. As runners started arriving for the 7 a.m. half marathon start, the weather started getting a bit hotter but everyone was in a great mood and the runs all went smoothly. Run Little Monkey ambassador Jenn ran the 10K and shaved a good few minutes off her previous times for...
